Why?

Why is obesity such a major problem now when 50 years ago it was almost unheard of? One reason is that our lifestyles have changed in so many ways. We are surrounded by supermarkets offering a variety of tempting and calorie laden, unhealthy foods. The manufacturers of these foods intentionally make them taste delicious, artificial colourings, additives and flavourings disguise the fact that they lack any nutritional value and so our bodies crave more as they do not provide any real energy other than the initial sugar rush which is short lived. Sugar is also highly addictive so the more we eat, the more we want.
With convenient online food ordering services we don't even need to go out to buy our food anymore, it can all be delivered, whether it's takeaways or groceries you only need an internet connection or a phone, so we are becoming less active and consuming more calories than ever before. Snacking between meals disrupts our digestives system's natural rhythms and makes it challenging to recognise true hunger cues. Eating late at night can also disrupt sleep patterns and further contribute to weight gain.
Despite the abundance of programmes dedicated to cooking and baking, many people no longer cook meals from fresh ingredients but instead view cooking as entertainment rather than a necessary life skill.
Currently 25.3% of the population in the UK is obese, with a further 63.8% being overweight (2020 figures). This situation is only worsening year on year and as a result Type 2 Diabetes is getting dangerously out of control.
In an excellent book by Dr Chatterjee 'Feel Great Lose Weight' he states "It's time to stop blaming yourself for all the struggles you might have had in the past about your weight. It's time to get smart about how to solve them. It's time for a new approach."
Hypnosis is that new approach as it can safely alter our thoughts and behaviours towards food and the way we eat. When in a relaxed state, our subconscious mind is open to positive changes and can provide the ideal solution for improving eating habits. Once these changes are in place you will find that you enjoy preparing and eating healthy nutritious foods and will no longer crave foods that are addictive and damaging to your health. If you want to change your life you must start by changing your mind and focus on the solution, not the problem!
